How Are Homes Selling In Polk County

If you look at the data in blocks of 12 months at a time you find that in same period of time in 2007  as compared to 2006 there was a 17% increase in the total value of the homes sold. We also see that there where also 5% more homes sold in 2007 than in 2006.  It is also good news that the average price for a home has grown over the past year as well. There is a little bit of bad news to throw in though and that is the fact that it took on average 1 month longer to sell a home in 07 than in 06. Over all these are great numbers showing good growth in the Polk County Home market. One thing I found that was a little concerning is the fact that the average price of the homes sold in the last three months are down several thousand dollars lower than even the same period in 2006. If this is just the case for this three month period then I would not be to worried but if that becomes a trend then it may very well indicate that the supply of money or of buyers willing to spend larger amounts of money is on decline. I will keep you posted. (This information is taken from the River Counties MLS and 2006 data is calculated form November 18th 2005-November 18th 2006 and 2007 is calculated from November 18th 2006-November 18th 2007.)
